Home again Home again Jiggity Jig...

Wyatt and I ventured 1/2 way across the nation to visit my folks back home in Maryland. We couldn't wait to meet the newest addition to the Yocum Clan! Little Eli and Wyatt are going to be great pals.

We set out on Wednesday and arrived in Maryland around 5. Wyatt did amazing on the flight there. I was a little nervous- but he ate on the ascent, slept a little, ate again and then slept all the way to the gate. Dad was eagerly awaiting us at baggage claim and Wyatt greeted Pop with a nice bath of baby spit up. Pop didn't care. He was just happy to see us! Mommy was starving and grabbed a candy bar and some chips while we waited for the bags. Next time - I'm putting my snacks within close range. A sleeping baby was too valuable to risk waking grabbing for a cookie!

Thursday- Jake and I went out to lunch and Wyatt got to meet my old friend Josh. It was nice to catch up with Jake and visit with an old friend over some good eats. That afternoon I headed up the mountain to meet the little man, and introduce Wyatt to Aunt Alisha. Even though Wyatt is at the top of the growth charts- he still my little baby. But then I met Eli- who coincidentally was the same size as Wyatt when he was born- even 2 inches taller. Wow! it's amazing what 2.5 months can do to a kid! Wyatt is HUGE! Its mind boggling how much/how fast they change!

Mom (Loli) and Dad (Pop) Took off on Friday to hang out with us. We walked and just hung around the house. Justus and Alisha came down for a feast that evening. It was 80 outside! It was so nice to have someone else hold my kid while I ate. I got to use 2 hands!

Saturday- we went to breakfast as usual- with the Long's. Ms. Deb held and fed Wyatt for a while- until her arm started going numb. He takes some getting used to that's for sure! It was a pretty cold day, and rainy- but Wyatt loves to be outside. So- we bundled him up, I borrowed a jacket from Dad and strapped him to me. We walked around the yard and down to the creek with Pop just enjoying being together.

Sunday was church and I'm guessing the time change threw Wyatt for a loop. I woke him a little early from a nap to get going and he just SCREAMED for 45 minutes. Pointless. I shoulda just let him sleep bc I sat in the car with a WAILING child for 45 minutes. He was so tired- but just couldn't calm himself. Geesh. And then of course- right on cue- communion talk- screaming again. No one seemed to mind but me. "Signs of a growing church" is what everyone said. True enough.

I also got to visit with some of my friends. "Aunt Larin" and Aunt Abby got to meet Wyatt and catch up on life. It feels so good to get together with these girls. There are just some people that you're always close to. Maybe you don't talk everyday, or see each other more than once a year. But- we can pick up a conversation right where we left off, and enjoy being in the moment. I love these girls! We also met Leah and Connor- Rachel's kiddos for the first time! Wyatt and Connor had a little baby babble session together- that I'll try and post a video of later. It was so cute!

All in all it was a fantastic trip. Wyatt loved being with so many people willing to hold him- and ate up all that attention. So much so- that the first day at home wasn't so fun for him. Mommy just can't hold him all the time! He did even better on the trip back to San Antonio. He was so interested in the check in- he didnt' fuss at all - even though he was way past due for a feeding. ANd....he slept the ENTIRE 4 hours flight with the exception of the last 20 minutes (when he was eating). Such a good baby. I hope all our travels go as smoothly. It's all a mother can ask for:)

I'll try and post some videos shortly but here are a few more pics from the week. I also have another thumb drive of photos to sift through, but this should tide you over. Enjoy!
