Home again Home again Jiggity Jig...
Wyatt and I ventured 1/2 way across the nation to visit my folks back home in Maryland. We couldn't wait to meet the newest addition to the Yocum Clan! Little Eli and Wyatt are going to be great pals.
We set out on Wednesday and arrived in Maryland around 5. Wyatt did amazing on the flight there. I was a little nervous- but he ate on the ascent, slept a little, ate again and then slept all the way to the gate. Dad was eagerly awaiting us at baggage claim and Wyatt greeted Pop with a nice bath of baby spit up. Pop didn't care. He was just happy to see us! Mommy was starving and grabbed a candy bar and some chips while we waited for the bags. Next time - I'm putting my snacks within close range. A sleeping baby was too valuable to risk waking grabbing for a cookie!
Thursday- Jake and I went out to lunch and Wyatt got to meet my old friend Josh. It was nice to catch up with Jake and visit with an old friend over some good eats. That afternoon I headed up the mountain to meet the little man, and introduce Wyatt to Aunt Alisha. Even though Wyatt is at the top of the growth charts- he still my little baby. But then I met Eli- who coincidentally was the same size as Wyatt when he was born- even 2 inches taller. Wow! it's amazing what 2.5 months can do to a kid! Wyatt is HUGE! Its mind boggling how much/how fast they change!

Mom (Loli) and Dad (Pop) Took off on Friday to hang out with us. We walked and just hung around the house. Justus and Alisha came down for a feast that evening. It was 80 outside! It was so nice to have someone else hold my kid while I ate. I got to use 2 hands!

Saturday- we went to breakfast as usual- with the Long's. Ms. Deb held and fed Wyatt for a while- until her arm started going numb. He takes some getting used to that's for sure! It was a pretty cold day, and rainy- but Wyatt loves to be outside. So- we bundled him up, I borrowed a jacket from Dad and strapped him to me. We walked around the yard and down to the creek with Pop just enjoying being together.

Sunday was church and I'm guessing the time change threw Wyatt for a loop. I woke him a little early from a nap to get going and he just SCREAMED for 45 minutes. Pointless. I shoulda just let him sleep bc I sat in the car with a WAILING child for 45 minutes. He was so tired- but just couldn't calm himself. Geesh. And then of course- right on cue- communion talk- screaming again. No one seemed to mind but me. "Signs of a growing church" is what everyone said. True enough.
I also got to visit with some of my friends. "Aunt Larin" and Aunt Abby got to meet Wyatt and catch up on life. It feels so good to get together with these girls. There are just some people that you're always close to. Maybe you don't talk everyday, or see each other more than once a year. But- we can pick up a conversation right where we left off, and enjoy being in the moment. I love these girls! We also met Leah and Connor- Rachel's kiddos for the first time! Wyatt and Connor had a little baby babble session together- that I'll try and post a video of later. It was so cute!

All in all it was a fantastic trip. Wyatt loved being with so many people willing to hold him- and ate up all that attention. So much so- that the first day at home wasn't so fun for him. Mommy just can't hold him all the time! He did even better on the trip back to San Antonio. He was so interested in the check in- he didnt' fuss at all - even though he was way past due for a feeding. ANd....he slept the ENTIRE 4 hours flight with the exception of the last 20 minutes (when he was eating). Such a good baby. I hope all our travels go as smoothly. It's all a mother can ask for:)
I'll try and post some videos shortly but here are a few more pics from the week. I also have another thumb drive of photos to sift through, but this should tide you over. Enjoy!

3 months old

My how the time flies! Wyatt turned 3 months old yesterday, but I was busy catching up on things around the house to post anything.
Deat Wyatt,
I guess you still seem like a little baby to me. Until we went to see cousin Eli. Now- I just can't get over how much you've grown and changed. Just face it kid- "As long as I'm living, my baby you'll be"- even when you're 30.
You learned to roll over this month. You were lying on the bathroom floor mat while I drew your bath. The oven timer beeped and I ran in to pull dinner out. I came back to a screaming baby- you had rolled over onto the cold tile floor (in just your diaper). you were NOT happy. You've done it a few more times since then, but with a much happier end.
You suck on your hands now and I'm hoping this will be a self soothing tool in the future. Today you took a 3 hour nap all by yourself without your binky thanks to those hands. Let's try for a repeat performance.
You smile at everyone now. I love it. You are such a little ham.
We are working on sleeping through the night. You're pretty good- though when you wake yourself up- it's hard to go back to sleep on your own. But you're only eating once at night- which is a major improvement. You usually sleep from 7-2/3ish and then again until 7 am.
We just started sitting you in the bumbo and you like to be where all the action is. The doorway jumper is also a new thing. Whlie you haven't learned to actually "jump" in it- you do like to stomp your feet and spin around. Basically- as long as you are in sight of everyone else- you're happy.
I just love being your Momma little man. God has truly blessed us!

A visit from Momma and Poppa B

We baited the grandparents with some cute pics of their growing grandson and sure enough, we got them to pop in for a quick visit! Wyatt is entering a fun stage and is starting to smile at us and gets more interactive and playful everyday. Charlie stopped in Sunday night and left Monday afternoon on way out to Pepperdine. We loved every minute he was here and I hope he got a good dose of Wyatt time. Lesa came Monday morning and stayed until Wed and Wyatt got some serious attention! He LOVED it!
Here are a few pics from the week and I'll post some videos later. I've gotta hit the hay. Wyatt is still getting up 1-2 times a night to eat. I can handle the 2 am one. Its the 6 am one when he wants to be awake for an hour- oye. That one is rough on Mommy. But he usually sleeps until 8 or 9 each morning so I usually get to go back to sleep for a little while.
Before bed I usually bring him in to "say" goodnight to Daddy too and see if we can get a few more smiles out of him. Tonight- Byron was playing a computer game.

baby boot camp

Hello All!
I'm 10 weeks old now! My new favorite toy is my jumper- but I don't fully fit in it yet. I tell Mom it's only a matter of time though. I gained a whole pound last week, and am still in the 95% percentile for weight. I tell Daddy- my head isn't as big as he thinks it is- only 75 percentile. But- I'm a growing boy and I like to eat so Mommy and I both have to remind Daddy that a midday brownie is not out of the question!
Mommy says that it's time for me to get tough so she's sending me to "baby boot camp". For sleeping. You see- I'm a world champ catnapper unless Mommy lays down next to me. She only does gives in when I really wear her out, but that's my strategy. I just love being right next to her ALL the time. But- she says she's bucklin' down and will sacrifice a few days/weeks of no naps to teach me how to do it on my own.
Right now my routine is: up and awake 7-8 AM. Awake for an hour, sleep for 30 minutes, awake for 30 minutes, then back to eating again. She wants me to nap longer so the Doc gave her some suggestions at our last appointment. She made me a lullaby playlist (Which we had before and I really like it to help me fall asleep). She will only rock me until I"m groggy and then put me in my crib to nap. Then- when I get up at my 30 min mark- she pats me and gives me my passy. Today (second day of training), I did it! I went back to sleep on my own and slept for 2 hrs! Yay!
Mommy left me with Daddy last night so she could go to a party for a few hours. I was sooooo good for Daddy. I slept the WHOLE time! Mommy said that was no fair- that she did all the work to get me ready (bathed me, fed me, rocked me, AND put me in the crib!). But I was good for her too and didn't wake up til 2 to eat and then I went strait back to bed. I even went back to sleep after waking myself up an hour later. But- I was hungry again at 430. Sorry Mom...it's just so yummy. But- I was nice and let her sleep until 8.
I'm more interactive now and I love my bumble bee, when people sing to me, and being on my back looking at things. I do NOT like tummy time. I throw up everywhere every time- no matter how long it's been since eating. But- Mommy says she's gonna be tough on that too. We'll see. We all know I have her wrapped around my chubby little finger.
